On a 5-question test, each question is worth 20% and you can miss none for an A, 1 for a B, 1 for a C and 2 for a D (common 90/80/70/60 scale). One wrong answer is 80.0%.
5-question test grade chart
Score for every number of wrong answers, rounded to one decimal.
| Wrong | Right | Score | Letter |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 5 | 100.0% | A |
| 1 | 4 | 80.0% | B |
| 2 | 3 | 60.0% | D |
| 3 | 2 | 40.0% | F |
| 4 | 1 | 20.0% | F |
| 5 | 0 | 0.0% | F |
The math: score = right answers ÷ 5 × 100. Each question is 100 ÷ 5 = 20 percentage points, so every wrong answer takes 20 points off a perfect 100%. Letters use the common 90/80/70/60 scale with no rounding up; your teacher may use different cutoffs, plus and minus grades or a curve, so check your school’s grading policy.
